Sean had been lucky enough to not lose his store; Annja and Arya hadn't been so lucky. As a result, Annja had been obsessively concerned with protecting their home. Annja had to laugh when she heard that. She put her gun in the shoulder holster and smiled at him.

"Promise me we are not going to be on the island for our anniversary? Because I don't trust the island not to screw with us just because."

"We won't be," Sean assured her with a slight nod. "I'm not sure where we'll be yet, but it won't be here."

And the joys of being a Cabal son and having entirely too much money for his own good was that he rarely if ever needed to worry about pesky little things like reservations and availabilities. Sometimes the "when in doubt, throw money at it" philosophy was awesome.

"Okay, then," he said, doing one last check to make sure he'd gotten everything. "Let's see what we can do to damage the goblin population a little, shall we?"

Annja nodded, before crossing the room to move into his arms.

"Have I told you lately how much I love you?"

And how grateful she was that he wasn't one of the ones that disappeared? Because she wouldn't have wanted to go through that... and wouldn't have wanted to be the one to tell his sister and Eve about it.

"Not in the past hour or two," he said, wrapping his arms around her and holding her close. He pressed a kiss to her temple. "I love you even more, though."

It was a familiar, joking routine with the two of them. Except now this time it wasn't a joke so much as it was an affirmation of the fact that at least something was still normal.
