Weekend update (and photos)

I so rarely do this. This was a long weekend, and it was Jordan-filled!

Friday Jo and I both had off from work. We headed out to Bohn park in Cary, where the city of Cary was having an Easter Egg hunt. We went to the "Under 3" hunt, where a large area on a baseball field was sectioned off with tape. There were about a thousand eggs (plastic and candy) just strewn about on the ground, and probably at least a hundred families with toddlers waiting at the edges. The Easter Bunny made an appearance, and a guy talked to us on a megaphone that we couldn't hear. Then, when the countdown was over, all the kids and parents descended on the field. In less than 2 minutes (no exaggeration) that place was picked clean like a grocery store during hurricane season. Jordan probably got about 10 or so eggs, and really enjoyed the experience. We then went to watch a magician at the little ampitheater there, but it was mostly lost on her...also, cold as hell. So we went home.

After nap, we headed out to Jumpin Beans, a giant indoor Moon-bounce playground. Jordan loves the place, and it's where we're having her second birthday party. We jumped around for about an hour or so, then went home and did the dinner and bedtime thing.

Saturday we got up early and went to the Zoo. It was waaaaaay too cold, but Jordan still had a good time. We stayed for several hours, and the drive back was during her usual naptime. This means that Jo and I didn't get naptime (we nap when Jordan does). Not that big a deal, except that I plan my weekends assuming I'm getting that nap, so I was on four hours of sleep. Still, great fun at the zoo, and a sort of lazy loungy Saturday afternoon and evening.

Sunday we had our pancake breakfast (I've been slacking a bit lately, but I usually cook pancakes at least one morning every weekend), and while Jordan and Jo were in the bath I set up her own private Easter Egg hunt. Plastic eggs were filled with stickers and some bottles of bubbles...and as soon as Jordan figured out there was stuff in the eggs it took everything we had to get her attention off of that stuff and back on gathering eggs. We then opened them all up and had fun with stickers and bubbles. I had promised her we would go see the Easter Bunny, who had been at the mall all week. So after nap time we loaded up in the car, drove to the mall...and it was closed. Jordan is in the back of the car saying "I'll see the Easter Bunny!" over and over, and the mall was closed. So we went to The Pet Pad instead, and she got to see the real Easter Bunny, and even got to pet him. They also had baby bunnies, which was cute...although I couldn't help thinking how they were perfectly sized for Osiris (who I no longer have). Normally Sunday afternoon is when we go to the pool, but it was closed for Easter, so we went for a ride around the neighborhood on Jordan's tricycle instead.

Overall, we had a lot of fun this weekend, though it was pretty much exhausting. And since I never post pictures, here are a few (have Easter Egg hunt pictures, but not on this comp)...

We got Jordan an Elmo costume for the upcoming Halloween, since it was on sale. Can't guarantee she'll fit in it come October, but she loves wearing it now (it's a little big on her, so we can hope).

Jordan and Teddy shared a moment Sunday afternoon. Considering the fact that both cats are still pretty sketched out by her, this pic was a good catch.

We took this picture in McLean over Christmas, and it's still one of my favorites.
