It's amazing how fast time goes on the boat, with a toddler who's into everything, and a crew who spoils her to no end. Maya can get away with practically anything, and does more often than not. But she's a sweet baby, loving on everyone, happy all the time, and already very happy to pretend to pilot the ship next to Wash on the bridge. She mimics

Wash had stood in the doorway from the bridge, just looking at his daughter who was sitting on Inara's knee. He couldn't believe that she was growing up so fast. She definitely inherited her mother's hair, as he watched he readiing. He'd be forever grateful to Inara helping her with some schooling, at least with all she needed to learn to read.

Maya happens to look up, and when she sees Wash, she is immediately distracted. "Daddy!"

Inara smiles, letting the little girl go to run to him, arms already in the air.

Wash scooped up Maya, kissing her all over her face, and settling her on his hip. "Where's Mommy?" he asked her, grinning at Inara.

There's some two year old talk, then pointing. "She do my hair!" Maya exclaims.

Inara loves watching this family. It makes her wish for children of her own, but she knows for more than one reason, that isn't possible.

Zoe makes her way in just a few seconds later. "Someone called for me?" She'd heard Wash ask where she was.
