1. What did you do in 2013 that you'd never done before?

Where do I start? I got engaged, I had kittens, I got married and I impregnated a woman!

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't really do the resolution thing, sometimes I do just so I have something to say when people ask what my New Years Resolution is but it's never really important to me or anything.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Sarah had her beautiful baby boy Albert, our daughters future husband!

4. Did anyone close to you die?
My Great-Uncle Dave died, hadn't seen much of him for quite a while which is a shame, he was a great man and a proper war hero. Also Amanda's aunt, I only met her once but she was awesome and is missed.

5. What countries did you visit?
Spain and Scotland (does that count as a country?!)

6. What would you like to have in 2014 that you lacked in 2013?
A better paying job with regular hours would be amazing.

7. What date from 2013 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
16/11 I got hitched!

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
My all powerful excellent swimmer of a sperm making it's way into Amanda's egg and creating new life! All the more of an achievement as Amanda didn't think she could have children :)

9. What was your biggest failure?
Lack of getting a proper job, or properly sorting out the house.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
My nose hurts and so does my finger.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
A wedding?! Also a Nessie that will be babies first 'teddy'. Oh and our kittens!

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Our little baby for existing and kicking and dancing like a chorus girl!

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Can't really think of anyone, I'm sure there was some Political thing/s that got my goat but right now they're forgotten.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Wedding!

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
In chronological order through the year: Being engaged! Having Kittens! Being a soon-to-be Dad! Getting Married! There was some pretty cool TV and movies in there too lol.

16. What songs will always remind you of 2013?
Beneath Your Beautiful was last years song but it's also this years as it was our first dance.
Other songs from this year that I hear all the time too probably, like Why'd You Only Call Me When Your High - Arctic Monkeys, Sale - Awolnation, Wire - Haim, Top of The World - Imagine Dragons, Hopeless Wanderer - Mumford and Sons and probably most of all this gorgeous song (that I want to learn on the uke) by an artist who really can't sing and normally has no talent other than a bit of charisma and stage presence: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3OWZaIpEDk it was written for his daughter, I've already sung it to bump a few times!

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Somehow even happier!
ii. thinner or fatter? Probably about the same.
iii. richer or poorer? Poorer in monetary terms.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Looking for decent jobs and sorting out the house!

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Working overtime.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Going to the In-laws in the morning and for Christmas dinner, with Amanda's brother and his family too. Then over to my Brother's in the evening.

21. Did you fall in love in 2013?
Yes, with my daughter! And the kittens.

22. How many one-night stands?
None of course, you silly question you.

23. What was your favourite TV program?
I enjoyed re-watching a few things this year but new programs (and new to me) it would have to be: The Blacklist, Burn Notice, Grimm, Adventure Time and Mad Dogs.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No.

25. What was the best book you read?
Well that would have to be Cryptomonicon but I can't have that as an answer as it's a re-read (3rd or 4th time now, can't remember). I read something really good near the start of the year I'm sure, I can't remember what it was though! I also enjoyed 11/22/63 by Stephen King, Snuff by Terry Pratchett and am currently enjoying Soverign by C.J. Sansom.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I discovered Mumford and Sons this year, also liking Haim, Imagine Dragons, Awolnation, Tom Odell and Kodaline.

27. What did you want and get?
A Wife! Kittens! A baby (may not have met her yet but still 'have' her!)!

28. What was your favourite film of this year?
What have I seen this year? Star Trek 2, Iron Man 3, Despicable Me 2, I also enjoyed a couple of Melissa McCarthy films that we're a bit shit but hilarious because of her; Heat and Identity Thief.

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 31 and Amanda took me to Hastings, we had a lovely walk along the beach and the cliff and in the museum. Then went for dinner with Mum back in Bas Vegas.

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2013?
Unchanged from the last few years!

32. What kept you sane?
Who ever said I was sane?

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Not really thought of any celebrity/public figures this year, been too busy fancying my wife!

34. What political issue stirred you the most?
What happened this year?! I know there were some things that happened, I remember getting incensed but I now forget why. I do remember the whole American government shut down thing getting me angry, I'm sure there was something closer to home too though!

35. Who did you miss?
A whole massive bunch of people! Just not had the money to be able to go out and see people which is a shame.

36. Who was the best new person you met?
Sherlock and Watson! Yes they are people! Ok so Human people? Not really met any new ones of particular note. I guess I get on quite well with Darren from work? Oh and babies Brayden and Albert! They're the best.

37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2013:
You never know when you're gonna get everything you ever wanted! Life can change on a dime.

38. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
Have this chorus:
‘Cause I’m on top of the world, ‘ay
I’m on top of the world, ‘ay
Waiting on this for a while now
Paying my dues to the dirt
I’ve been waiting to smile, ‘ay
Been holding it in for a while, ‘ay
Take you with me if I can
Been dreaming of this since a child
I’m on top of the world.

- Imagine Dragons.
