"Mr. Griffin, this is Dr. James Wilson your Humor professor. I was calling in regards to your absence from class this past week. At the moment it is on my book as an unexcused absence, which will result in detention this weekend unless you have a note you can present to me before our next class.

I will be holding office hours tomorrow, Monday, from 9:30 in the morning until noon, if you could stop by or if not please leave me a voice mail. If I don't hear from you with an acceptable excuse, I will be putting your name in for detention."
