Wow, I wouldn't have thought of doing it like that. (Then again, I'm so new at colouring manga, almost ALL techniques make me go, "oh, THAT'S how you do it!")

I love the effect. It's so clean and crisp.

Hahaha truthfully I'm pretty new at it myself, I've been coloring my own art for ages and just gave manga coloring a try recently.

*claps* very useful!

Question though, how do you pick the color you'll use to shade? I find that a bigger problem than where to shade, since most of the time the colors I choose end up looking unnatural.

It depends. For skin I pick a color darker and redder than the original, because then it looks more natural and less flat. For hair I usually just go darker, but sometimes I'll change the actual color a little. Everything I usually just go darker and more saturated with.

I hope that helped, I'm not the best at describing stuff :'D

thanks! i'll try that next time :) usually i just go darker (not redder/more saturated), and it ends up blending too well that when i spruce it up with effects later its like i didn't shade at all.
