Notes: Kara kills Leoben. Again and again. Drabbley.
Leoben has died so many times, he’s lost count.
It gets harder every time. It takes him longer to download. To collect his memories. To stop shaking.
At least, it did.
One night, he prayed for Kara to release him from the pain. The pain of her constant rejection. The pain of the odd looks from the other models. The pain of his muddled faith.
And she did. Just not the way he’d intended. God never laid out plans as intended.
The next time she killed him, he downloaded with crystal clarity.
The natural assumption would be that something-some part of his programming-finally gave up and quit. Got lost in translation. Switched off. Fueling him with a rekindled singular purpose: like a broken record, skipping on a loop on a loop on a loop. A reaffirmation from the One True God that Kara Thrace was the answer to his prayers. That Kara Thrace was more than anyone bargained for.
After downloading that day, Leoben found a soft, curly-haired child, straying too far from her mother.
