History: From the get go, Tony Stark's life has been at least somewhat in the spotlight. He was born to Maria Stark and the famous weapons developer Howard Stark. Throughout the entirety of his childhood, there was a distinct lack of his father, presumably due to the fact that he was busy with Stark Industries, and even when his father graced Tony with his presence, he was exceptionally cold toward Tony, which set the stage for a fair number of Tony's actions later on in life. In any case, while he was still a child he was already proving that he was an engineering genius; building his first circuit board when he was four, his first engine when he was six and then to top it off he graduated summa cum laude from MIT at the age of sixteen.

After that, Tony's parents managed to die in a car accident and Howard Stark's lifelong friend Obadiah Stane stepped in to manage the company until Tony turn twenty-one and thus became old enough to run it himself. Fast forward a number of years to the start of the first Iron Man film where Tony is showing off his new missile design "The Jericho"  in Afghanistan. The convoy he was traveling with was attacked shortly after the demonstration and during this attack, Tony managed to be badly injured by shrapnel from the attack. His life was saved by a man whose name was Yinsen and along with Tony, he found himself held captive by a terrorist group known as the Ten Rings who wanted Tony to build a version of Jericho missile for them. Now at one point, Tony had met Yinsen before at a conference, however, Tony had been so completely drunk that he didn't really remember the conference after the fact. Now Tony, being Tony didn't do what the terrorists asked and with the help of Yinsen, who was a fairly good engineer himself, built a not only the first arc reactor for himself to keep the still there shrapnel from his heart, but also a protective suit of armor (the first and roughest version of the Iron Man suit) for himself to help the two of them escape. Sadly, Yinsen died fighting off some of the terrorists in an effort to give Tony more time to charge up the suit. Once the suit was charged, Tony broke out of the cave they were trapped in, destroyed the weapons the terrorists had and flew away using a jet pack before crash landing in the desert where he was later found by the U.S. military, and specifically his best friend Jim Rhodes.

The military took him back to the U.S. and after reuniting with his personal assistant Pepper Potts he called a press conference for Stark Industries to announce his return, but more importantly, to announce that he was shutting down the weapons portion of Stark Industries due to what had occurred to him in Afghanistan. This move, however, was apparently blocked by the board members of Stark Industries as Obadiah tells Tony after the fact. Now, after that Tony decides to improve both his armor and his arc reactor before flying back to Afghanistan to destroy the Ten Rings which he does, and unfortunately he attracts the attention of the U.S. Air Force who send two fighters to kill him, and Tony escapes them while spilling the beans about it being him to his friend Jim Rhodes who then covers up the thing as a training exercise.

After that incident, Tony starts trying to improve on the suit and it's during this time frame that there's a party where he finds out that Obadiah has been doing under the table trades without Tony's knowledge. This is a huge betrayal of his trust and causes him to send Pepper to investigate about it in the Stark Industries offices. She discovers that it was Obadiah fault that Tony was captured by the terrorists and that it was all an elaborate plot to kill Tony. Right after this occurs, Obadiah realizes that Tony will know if he doesn't already and while Tony is at home, Obadiah paralyzes him using a device and takes out his arc reactor and runs off to go power a large bulky version of the Iron Man suit for his own use. Once the paralysis wears off, Tony slowly makes his way to his extra arc reactor and has his AI computer J.A.R.V.I.S. help him put it in. Then he goes and get his own suit to fight Obadiah. Tony and Obadiah battled on the streets around Stark Industries and on top of Stark Industries before, on Tony's orders, Pepper manages to make the huge arc reactor that powers the Stark Industries labs to overload thus killing Obadiah and recharging the one that was in Tony's chest.

In the time after that, Tony's alter ego is called Iron Man by the media and then Tony tries to call a press conference to tell the world that Iron Man was Tony's bodyguard, but instead Tony decides it's a good idea to tell everyone that "I am Iron Man" which makes the media go nuts. Later that night after the conference, Tony is surprised by the presence of Nick Fury in his house and then Fury tells him about the Avengers Initiative and Tony declines...joining it.

Six months after Tony made the decision to tell everyone he was Iron Man, we see that he has used his suit for good and that it's been used to keep the peace among all the super powers in the world and as a consequence, he's exceptionally popular. He makes himself even more popular among the general public by opening the first "Stark Expo" in a good thirty-ish years. The government believes he's a bit of a villain still though and they demand that he give over the Iron Man tech to the United States government, which he refuses to do, because it's his technology and he doesn't have to do it if doesn't want to. Then as an added bonus, at the Senate hearing where the government is telling him to do this, they bring in Justin Hammer who is supposed to be Tony's "rival" when it comes to weapons and the like, but as Tony shows with Hammer pathetic attempts to emulate Tony's suit tech, that clearly isn't the case.

But of course, not all is sunshine and roses with Tony's life, because the arc reactor in his chest requires palladium to work, but the element deteriorates while in the reactor and lets out bits of palladium into Tony's system; since it's a poisonous element, this is slowly killing Tony. He's been trying to find something to replace to no avail and he starts going off the rails a bit, which is a sharp change from the man he became due to being captured in Afghanistan. While going off the rails, however, he gives Pepper Potts control of the company and replaces her with Natalie Rushman.

Tony then goes to Monaco where he's attacked by Ivan Vanko who has a grudge against Tony so strong that he actually makes a miniature arc reactor and whip-like things that take the electrical energy from the arc reactor and turn them  into weapons. Tony barely defeats Vanko with the help of his Mark Five armor. Then he does a little research and discovers that the reason Vanko hates him is because of the fact that after Howard Stark and Ivan Vanko's father, Anton Vanko finished working on the arc reactor, Howard kind of made it so Anton was deported back to the Soviet Union at the time.

Tony then after a bit of time has passed throws what he's assuming is going to be his last birthday part, gets drunk beyond belief to the point where he uses the bathroom in the Iron Man suit he's wearing at the party and forces his best friend Jim Rhodes to put on another version of Tony's suit to make him just stop doing what he's doing, which he does. Then he goes to a donut shop and sits in a oversized donut until Nick Fury comes with "Natalie Rushman", who Tony finds out is actually Natasha Romanoff and together they kind of force him to go through a chest of Howard Stark's old things because in there might lie the key to finding a cure for the palladium poisoning. After some protests, Tony does just that and discovers that his father ended up disguising a diagram for a new element that shockingly solves the palladium poisoning issue. So, Tony then manages to build a particle accelerator in his lab and with the help of J.A.R.V.I.S. manages to synthesize this new element and makes a new triangular chest arc reactor that cures the poisoning.

Then while this is going on, Hammer is unveiling his shiny new miltary drones with Jim Rhodes in a weirdly weaponized version of the Iron Man suit he stole from Tony as the centerpiece but Hammer didn't realize that Vanko made it so that he'd have complete control over the drones and the suit so then while the unveiling is happening Tony comes to prevent Vanko from killing everyone with those things and causes Vanko to make the drones and Jim Rhodes fly after Tony in order to kill him. Natasha manages to give Jim Rhodes control over his suit and then Tony and Rhodes fight Vanko, save the day and then Tony manages to save Pepper from a drone that was going blow up and then proceeds to kiss her like a hero is supposed to kiss the girl.

Then Nick Fury gives Tony a debriefing about about how he as Tony Stark, isn't suitable for the Avengers Initiative as outlined Natasha Romanoff's assessment despite the fact that Iron Man is. However, S.H.E.I.L.D. wants Tony to at least be a consultant which Tony agrees to under one condition which Fury grants.

Personality: The first thing anyone has to know about Tony Stark is that he doesn't really like Tony Stark. It's not to say that he has issues with insecurity or anything like that, instead, Tony's issues with himself stem from how his life was before he was in captivity in Afganistan and before he met Yinsen while in captivity. Tony may have been a genius and may have made it so that his company that he had inherited from his father did well, but he was also a bit of a party boy who, to be honest, didn't think much about how the weapons his company produced caused damage beyond the amount they were intended to.

This all changed when he was captured and told to build a version of one of his company's newest bombs in Afghanistan. Now, when it comes to Afghanistan and the events that transpired there, there's no doubt that it changed Tony. Most would say it was for the better, but there were others, at the time who thought differently. The best way to describe Tony before the incident was that he was a spoiled and selfish man who acting like essentially a frat boy who had a large intelligence. Not exactly the sort of guy who'd take responsibility for things and really the type of guy who, when it came to running his company, let other people like Pepper Potts and Obadiah Stane do the boring and reasonably important things. Enter the events of Afghanistan where Tony finds himself realizing that the weapons he makes hurt people that don't even deserve to be hurt. Innocent people who aren't the bad guys are being hurt by his creations. Even beyond that, and more importantly, it forces Tony to face his own mortality. In theory, he knew he was going to die at some point, but he certainly didn't intend for it to be in Afghanistan after showing off a new weapon of his. That wasn't something that happened to people. But it happened to him and it was...terrifying and unnerving. Even he couldn't exactly brush it off as a joke because if he died all sorts of things would happen.

He didn't want to die there, though, and instead chose to, after making his first reactor to make sure the shards of metal near his heart didn't kill him, make a suit to help him and Yinsen escape. If he was going to die, he'd go out fighting and he certainly wouldn't give his captors what they truly wanted before he left. Once he managed to escape, he still retained certain aspects of his personality, but the he wasn't the same man who entered Afghanistan and he become the sort of man who wanted to know what was going on with his company and wanted to maybe change things without the use of weapons.

Once he realized that his products caused as much damage as they did and arrived home after being rescued, he tried to shut down the weapons portion of his company just to do some good. Why? Because he felt like he had to do something that was good instead of something that was just purely for destruction. Even beyond that, in the first film, once he finds out about what's going on in Afghanistan at the benefit, he feels the need to go off to there to defeat the Ten Rings there. Not to mention when Pepper tries to talk him out of doing anything else after that mission, he tells her that this is all there is; there's only the mission now and the one after that. Essentially everything Tony does is to distance himself from what everyone expects him to be, no matter what that might be.

He knows that people expect him to be a carbon copy of his father, but if there's one thing he doesn't want to be? It's that. At his core, Tony is honestly a bit of hedonist, selfish as hell except when dealing with certain things, and to put it simply a troll. But there's a subtle shift in him after he's held in captivity, sure he's still a troll and he still enjoys the finer things in life, but he's just slightly less selfish. Part of the reason the events of Iron Man happened was because Tony focused on himself and just let Obadiah Stane do all those under the table deals. If he had focused on his work as CEO of Stark Industries, it may not have happened. That being said, he's still selfish by the end of Iron Man, as evidenced by him spilling his secret to the general public, and even to a point into Iron Man 2. After all, while getting his affairs in order by making Pepper CEO and selling things off he still had time to be completely insane in Monaco and then later wreak havoc at his own birthday party. Not exactly the actions of a unselfish man.

Tony also has the largest ego possibly known to man. It's warranted to a point, admittedly, since he did graduate summa cum laude from MIT and has basically been a engineering genius since he was young, but even with that fact, it's still a bit astonishing that his ego is just that large. No matter what happens to him though, that may actually be the one thing that never in a million years will change. Nor will his incessant need to know and solve things, because god forbid you give him a problem you think he can't solve. It's like daring him to solve it and make no mistake, he'll find a way to do just that.

Now, part of the way he acts has to do with the people who currently are and who have been his life. In Tony's eyes, his father never really loved him, which wasn't true, but it still doesn't change that Tony's been living under this impression for years and it's not something you change overnight. When his father died, Obadiah Stane temporarily took over Stark Industries until Tony came of age and Tony almost saw him as a father figure. Obadiah then proceeded to go and betray Tony during the events of Iron Man and that didn't really do Tony any good in the "I can trust people" department.

The other two very important in his life are Jim Rhodes, his best friend and Pepper Potts, his personal assistant and the one constant woman in his life. Now, these two combined know just how human Tony can be. Sure, he's a rich man who was a rich boy, but he's also a genius who is capable of so many things when he actually puts his mind to it. Rhodey, as Tony calls him, gave him the chance to fully unleash himself and his capabilities instead of letting them just sit there. One of the unfortunate issues with the fact that Rhodey was in the military though, is the fact that he was quite alright with Tony being a weapons manufacturer and that is why until the events in Afghanistan, Tony was quite alright being who he was. Pepper on the other hand, knows that he's not just a weapons manufacturer and if he wants to stop, well, there's nothing that's stopping him because he's Tony Stark. She's a grounding force in his life, really, the one constant woman in life and the person who knows just about everything there is to know about him. Not even Rhodey knows as much about him as she does. She makes him act a little more mature, even if he doesn't show it most of the time.

All this being said being said, Tony is still not the nicest guy. If you poke him with a metaphorical stick, he'll poke back and even if you don't, but you'd look like you'd have fun reactions to him bothering you or geting under your skin, he'll bother you endlessly. It's part of his charm and he makes it work enough to where even though people know he's a bit of dick, they'll still associate with him pleasantly. Unless they're just a stick in the mud, then they'll probably just see him as a toddler who shouldn't be allowed to speak. However, this doesn't mean that he's not serious from time to time though, when push comes to shove he will deal with issues in a serious manner as evidenced by his actions with the village in Iron Man. He knows what he thinks is right and he'll stop at nothing to set things right if you manage to just drop the problem on him or if the problem directly involves him or someone he cares about.

Abilities, Weaknesses and Power Limitations: Tony possess a genius-level intellect that enables him to be a engineering genius so to speak, though, his intelligence does apply to other areas as well. Outside of his suit, he's of average strength and it is possible to kill him in more than one way. His arc reactor is said to be able to power his heart for years and, more importantly, it keeps shrapnel that is his chest from reaching his heart. The arc reactor is removable, however and if someone were to do just that, he would die with a realitively small time frame. He could also

Inventory: Nothing except the clothes he was wearing, a pair of gray sweats, his wallet, and shades.
Appearance: Tony has short black hair that walks the fine line of being both messy and perfectly coiffed and brown eyes. He has a bit of a goatee and mustache combination going on the lower half of his face. His skin is pale but not in the sort of unhealthy way. His height is an even six feet or 6'1" depending on who's measuring it and his body is quite toned, especially his arms.

Here's even a picture, well technically two of the man. His PB is Robert Downey Jr.
Age: At least late thirties, but probably closer to early to mid forties.

SAMPLES
Log Sample: This is the sort of thing Tony thinks he would have liked far more when he was younger and there were less complications. He likes it well enough, but some days, some very odd days, he feels a draw to go back home. Where there's people he knows. More than just random individuals he knows now. No, he kind of wishes Rhodey and Pepper were here. There's no real fun in being at a place that appears to be every science-fiction dream you've ever had come true without people to share it with.

Oh who is he kidding, this place, the Tranquility is, minus the lack of a crew that isn't the people he arrived with, amazing. It's a place he could find himself enjoying as he figures out what is going on with it. It's an equation to solve or an engineering feat that he wants to learn how to accomplish. So what if he's maybe missing people from back home. At least he's not whining about it. At least he knows that the only way he'll get to see them again is if they find their way here to him or if he finds the way back to him.

You know, as smart as they are, he doesn't think they'll be coming anytime soon, and since they won't maybe he can find a way to get to them. He just has to figure out how this almost planet like ship works. As soon as he does that he can go get them and show them around. See, I've tamed everything including creepy ghost ships in space.

Until then, maybe a bit more poking around is warranted. After all, it's not like he can trust someone else to not blow this hunk of ship up. He'd like to remain safe not charbroiled or suffocated by a lack of air.

Comms Sample: [ tony unlike some people, likes observing people first before he says anything. there's nothing like making a fantastic entrance because you know what's going on while other people don't. it makes you look smart. technically tony supposes he doesn't need any help in that department, but it never hurts to be the observer first. right now he's a little annoyed because no one is actually being helpful in the way he wants them to be. everyone has forced his hand into asking a question. but unlike some people who clearly haven't seen a single communication device in their life, he doesn't bombard you with a weird close up of his face, no, he just calmly looks at it before asking away. ]

Show of hands, how many of you are normally carbon-based? And those of you who didn't raise your hand or give me some notice that you're actually listening, which I know you are, because what else are going to be doing at this moment? Pushing this thing up against your face some more? Anyway, those of you who didn't say, "yes, I'm carbon-based", what exactly are you? This is just a general survey question before I ask the real one, because half of you seem to be having issues.

The real question, by the way, was, does anyone have any particular clue as to what's going on besides being on a space ship that looks dead. And for once, I actually mean that term literally. Unless the other people are all invisible and last I checked, that's actually impossible.
