VP Debate results: Palin good, Biden better, Ifill awful

It's nice to see that both Joe Biden and Sarah Palin were able to rise above the incredibly low bars set for them. All Biden had to do was not stick his foot in his mouth or act condescending towards his opponent; all Palin had to do was stand upright and remember not to ask Gwen Ifill if she could buy a vowel

I think what bothered me most was how split her performance was. First she'd be in old-town-main-street-folksy mode, "goshdarnit Joe!" etc, then when she started to answer the actual questions she reverted in to mindless automaton recitation mode, as if she were the Manchurian Candidate or something... oy.

Kudos to Biden though on one point -- he could have really fucked it up by going after her on any number of issues last night only to be perceived as a bully or a sexist, and he didn't let that happen.
