What a pink donkey can teach you

Disclaimer: I'm going to talk about abuse and neglect of animals, and our perceptions about such and how I think they are horrifically skewed, and even somewhat silly. This is me talking about people- this is NOT me saying what they do is OK, or that you should somehow be OK with it. I'm not OK with it.

I totally see what you mean.

BTW, can you link me to some of those donkey rescues? I'd like to get involved and help out all the critters I can!

The link to Peaceful Valley is in the post, but there are other donkey rescues out there. One of the other ones I support is Save Your Ass rescue out of New England (www.saveyourass.org). PVDR is just the largest one nationally.

~Sighs~ There's plenty of humane ways to color an animal, I don't understand why people don't get it. Hell, there's even anti-fly and bite healing ointment that is PINK so you can see where it goes and if you need to apply more later on...along with marking sticks and animal safe veggie based dye. So long as it was safe paint, I don't care if the animal is well taken care of, which....that one looks like it is. Though pink does seem a little unflattering for the donkey and makes it look shaved and wrinkly. But otherwise...looks like a normal donkey, which like tabascokat says...looks bored.

You go paint those donkeys.

"stand outside in 85 degree heat" We don't put our horses up until the high creeps near 100˚. It looks like he even had shade, and boots to protect his feet from the asphalt. So long as the paint/dye was non-toxic I don't see what people are having a cow over. Of course you take the same people and give them the opportunity to actually HELP an animal in REAL need and they're going to back down every time.
