I know that I don't know you very well, but I like reading your posts, and I wanted to leave some Joy Nash for you to see. She is a lovely lady who talks about being fat on youtube, and she has helped me enormously. Good luck on whatever you decide to do.

As someone who has studied herbalism, I am fairly against weight loss surgery. As someone who is friends with someone who had a stomach staple surgery and then lost a ton of weight...I have seen it help.

I think one very under-examined cause of weight gain is unbalanced hormones and I wish more women could get that thoroughly checked out before struggling through yoyo dieting. I've gained a lot of weight twice; once from SSRI's, and once from birth control pills. I remember how out of control I felt as my weight went up. It was really really hard to stay on an even keel and the thing that helped me the most was walking every day and not eating sugar anymore. Both were and are hard to do. My body's the same way though; cut out carbs and sugar and I do start losing weight.

So I guess what I'm saying is...I know you *will* check other things out before resorting to surgery, and I think one of those things should be your hormones. I feel herbalists like Susun Weed have more helpful things to say on that than western med doctors.
