Wow. When was my last entry??
I'm still alive.
Work has been busy. Thanksgiving was pretty good. A little different than previous years. We went to my aunt's house on my mom's side this year instead of my grandmother's on my dad's side (last remaining grandparent). Different family, different place, different food. My brother thought the food was bland, but I think he's lost his taste buds to smoking. The food was excellent.
I'm still looking at houses. Not finding much that I like. Some of them that I see that I like aren't in the most desirable locations, so I just write those off. The overpriced house next door to my aunt in Trucksville sold a few weeks back. Can't believe anyone was dumb enough to pay what he wanted for a house he didn't have any money into. There was also a house across the street that was way overpriced that sold within a couple weeks of going on the market. I don't get it. I've seen a couple others I'd like to look at, but just can't bring myself to call the realtors. Considering houses that need ground-up remodeling or to be bulldozed and built new and are on postage stamp lots are selling for $70,000, I probably won't find much decent in a good area for less than $120,000 (yes, for those of you outside of NEPA, houses are cheap here. don't move here unless you know how to drive or you will be smited by me personally). Most places I've seen that I like (3BR, 1.5BA minimum and 2-car garage) are around $140,000. I don't know what to do. I can't really afford that by myself, but I don't have anyone interested in moving to that area. I'm kinda stuck. *shrug*
In other news, I think motorcycle season is officially over here. Got one last short ride in a coule weekends ago. The bike is covered and the tank topped off with fuel and Sta-Bil.
We got a dumpster a couple months ago and cleaned out the garage and some of the basement. We still need to clean out the back porch, the rest of the basement, the spa room and the cabinet under the back porch. There are a LOT of toys that I'd like to try to sell off, possibly on eBay. Lots of old-school G.I. Joes and stuff like that. Pretty sure there's a mouse or chipmunk living in the bottom of the cabinet under the porch, too.
In the process of cleaning out the garage, we uncovered about 10 sheets of plywood from when we re-roofed the house years ago. I think we're going to try and enclose the area under the back porch to keep the bikes in year-round. Gonna need a light out there, too. Production on that has halted due to weather and time restrictions.
Which brings me to another topic, the motorcycle. I love my bike, but I want more power. It's addicting. I either need a jet kit or a enw bike. I considered trading my Katana in on a GSX-R600, but I think the insurance would be ridiculous. I'd love it, though.
I've also been trying to clean up my cell bedroom. You can only fit so much in an 8x10 cell. I just moved a bunch of stuff and put together a bookcase. Hopefully I can get my desk cleaned off now since I've had nowhere to store my CDs since I moved back home here 4-1/2 years ago. Maybe this will kick my butt in gear to get more stuff done here at the house. If I don't find a house in the next 6 months, I may just give up and watch for affordable land to come up for sale closer to work. Dad expressed interest in moving his computer and TV to the old sewing room and knocking a wall out to expand my room. I had suggested this a long while back, but it wasn't feasible at the time. Problem is, doing that would mean I have to take everything out of both rooms during the demolition, patching up the walls and re-carpeting. I have nowhere to go but the living room. :-( It would be worth it if it could be done in a few days, though. It would more than double the size of my cell.
Hockey season is in full swing. The WBS Penguins are doing great and looking like a championship team again this year. Hopefully Pittsburgh doesn't take half of the good players away for the finals again. That really screwed us over last year and we lost out to the Hershey Bears. That sucked. We've already whooped up on them a couples times this year, though. Looking forward to a lot more games (P.S.-anyone in the area that would like to go to a game sometime, let me know!! I have 2 season seats and don't always have someone to go with me!). Go Pens!
I can't think of anything else right now, so I guess I'm done for now...
Oh yeah! I'm off the week between giftmess and new year's if anyone wants to get together.
