i picked mocha up on thursday afternoon. she's been keeping quiet ever since we got home. the doctor told me to keep an eye on her and to look for "warning" signs, like lack of appetite, color loss and weight loss.

so far she's been doing pretty well. she's been eating regularly, taking her antibiotics and pain meds without problem, her color is still good... the only thing is she's lost a significant amount of weight. 2 weeks ago when i first brought her to the vet she weighed about 74-75 lbs, which is lighter than usual, cuz she usually averages about 80 lbs. when the doctor removed her tumor he said it weighed 4 lbs, then they weighed her after the surgery and she was down to 66 lbs. i don't think she's weighed that little since she was about 3 or 4 years old... so he was a little worried about all the weight she was losing.

i was initially worried when i first got her home cuz she was kinda gaunt looking, but since she's been eating regularly, she's filled back out a little. and of course, when she first got home she was still a little tender so she wasn't moving around so much, but everyday since she's been moving around a little more. yesterday she actually did a little jog around the backyard to try to catch my brother who was waiting for her on the side of the house. i'm still really cautious when i'm around her, i don't want to squeeze her or accidentally bump into her... but i am relieved to have her home and to be able to see her whenever i want.

basically at this point the doctor said it's a waiting game. and you better believe i've been praying every night. yes, i'm praying for my dog. and so far it seems like my prayers are working, because i honestly thought she wouldn't bounce back as good as she has. i know that she'll never be 100% but already she's surpassed my expectations. i'm hoping that when her re-examination comes up on wednesday the doctor will be pleasantly surprised at her progress...

i'm officially out of my apartment. my bro and i went up on saturday to empty out the last of my stuff. the girl that was supposed to buy my couches emailed me a couple days prior to tell me that her car had broken down and that she couldn't afford the couches anymore. i tried to get another buyer to get 'em, but that girl ended up not being able to get them cuz she had no way of transporting them... so i just called the girl that was originally supposed to buy them and told her that if she could get a truck over she could have the couches for free. i figured i would rather give them to someone than take them back down to sd with me or throw them away. and it turned out that the girl i was giving them to was a single mother and had no furniture in the apartment she was living in... actually the only furniture she did have was a futon type couch that didn't have real cushions... so i'm glad that i ended up giving the couches to her. she was so thankful and yesterday i got an email from her, she told me that her daughter loved the couches and that they slept on them the night they got them into the apartment.
