It's always a good day when you can make a classical reference

I did a small friends cut, most probably won't notice. I just sort of removed people I never talk to or have no similar interests anymore.

I sort of wish I could be more into Sherlock fandom because it seems like EVERYONE is going apeshit and I'm over here in my corner, eating some Tapioca pudding, nodding slightly and saying, "yeah, I feel that." ( Read more... )

slash, boldly slashing where i've never slashed, space husbands, the nostalgia critic, rant, friends cut, the game is on, channel surfing

I saw an icon once with a picture of Kirk and Spock staring at each other from about four inches apart. The legend was, "My Fandom Invented Slash". I'd completely forgotten that when they started publishing fanfiction originally, at the earliest cons, "slash" was short for "Kirk / Spock".

I should have copied the thing - I never found it again.

Your comment just reminded me of this icon I saved a while back, so maybe it will mend the hole in your heart. :)

Yay! I made the cut!!! I am awesome!!!!

While I haven't been doing the Nostalgia Crit Rewatch, I spontaneously watched the first ST film yesterday and had forgotten how great Spock looked with semi-long hair and how pre-occupied with him Jim was! ADORABLE EXPLOSION!

I've been working on a Sherlock rec list that avoids all the kinds of Watson is sad whatev stuff I keep seeing. I'm being pretty meticulous not just about the quality of writing but about how imaginative is the story. Sadly, AO3 hasn't been firing on all cylinders all week so I may not have many authors from there. Hopefully you'll find something interesting when I post this list of Sherlock fic bad-assert.

Oh silly, of course you made it. :)

Ooh you should link me. I sort of want to read Sherlock fic, but I don't want to go out and find it. I just want to read the absolute best, you know?

It's not a rewatch, it's a video review. Normally I'm a big fan of his and I love a lot of reviewers on the site, but the Star Trek reviews he did recently were pretty boring and not his usual awesome. I mean, he's a regular fanboy so I'm not expecting any slash, but come on, you figured he'd put a lot of emphasis on Kirk and Spock regardless. I'd definitely recommend watching some of his other videos, ESPECIALLY the Star Wars Christmas Special or Sonic the Hedgehog.

I feel the same way about Sherlock as you do. I loved the second series and I have reblogged pretty much every angsty Reichenbach post on tumblr (and teared up over all of them) but I'm not in the fandom at all. I haven't read any fic since about three weeks after the first season aired and I never watch vids. I can't really explain why I feel no urge to dive into the Sherlock fandom, I think it might be because I am perfectly satisfied with what is happening in canon, or maybe it's something else, but yeah I'm not feeling it.

Maybe that's it, but I dunno. Maybe it's like my Queer as Folk thing. Loved the show, never read or needed fanfic. So, they are so slashy it's practically canon. :) I would read a great Sherlock fic, I just don't feel like actively searching for it.

I know what you mean about Sherlock. I adore the show, but I'm not pining to read fic or anything. I kind of like reading gen in this fandom, but that's a bit like trying to find that ONE PARTICULAR NEEDLE in a stack of needles.
