Why is LiveJournal still massive in Russia?


Article from Wired magazine you might like...
It really doesn't say much and sort of misses the point, rather than an aged precursor to myspace it is a social blogging platform for keeping in touch with people far less superficial than facebook. That is if anyone could find the time to update theirs.

The article did go off on a weird tangent to somewhere off-topic.

Maybe one do a blogging site will take off like Facebook? I really doubt it though as lot of people can't be arsed writing in 'non-txt spk', never mind full paragraphs...

I don't think the author got it, or how it its fundamentally different from other blogging platforms or how they are used.

But you are right no one has the time for long updates, just short txt spk hence twitter.

It's an example of 'churnalism' more than Journalism...

There are some people who do but not massive numbers of them. Some people make some fantastic short posts.

Txt spk is a horrible subspecies of the English language!
