The trick to not being there for hours is to only read the front page and the recced diaries. I'm the first to admit that 95% of content at DKos is self agrandizing political wankery. They sort the wheat from the chaff with the diary rescues. No real reason to scroll through the rest unless you REALLY like pictures of animals.
