I'm interested in signing up for Wowio, but the whole "you need to give us either a scan of your driver's license or your credit card info to sign up" thing is very offputting.

Does anyone know if this thing is a scam or not? I asked Google but it was useless.

I signed up a while back at was going to attempt to sucker 10 people into joining to get a free iPod Shuffle. I didn't have to give them any of that personal information. I think I just gave them my e-mail address and they took about 5 hours to decide if internetsyndicate.com was a valid domain.
