Disconnected

Going with my thoughts of yesterday, i realized as I walked home that I feel remarkably disconnected from the world of late. Whether this is a symptom of my enforced hermitage over the past few weeks or an indicator of a larger disconnect remains to be seen ( Read more... )

I'm the same way, I have a very hard time leaving my house, especially in the winter. There was this brief period where I went out almost every night no matter what the season, but now the thought of going out only appeals to me once in a while. I think the problem is that there is nowhere interesting to go in Regina, so we usually just go out to the house of another friend, because everything else seems so boring, except for the occasional show or event that's different. I do relate to that.... yet I think that --- for me anyway, novelty wears off no matter what city you live in. I end up craving meaningful interactions with people as opposed to 'city life' experiences I cannot get anywhere but one certain physical location. The charm of that kind of newness wears off after awhile. In the end, I always end up wanting the random connections I make in meeting new people at "the house of another friend", rather than dancing to the beats at a new club or wandering down a new street. But that's just me.

I too look forward to all the "newness" that comes with spring. Even though I - in many ways - HATE winter, I also recognize how awesome it is to live in a place where every single year, my mind is consistently and completely BLOWN by the arrival of spring. People who have this weather and certain warm-weather-related amenities year-round just can't relate. We've got something truly special, albeit at times quite painful, that we are FORCED not to take for granted.
