Thats what my parents did and y'know, they were never short of money. My dad was the only one who worked yet they bought their house outright (ok, so they didn't cost so much in those days (massive 4 bed semi cost them £3,000! but that was back in 1975). Saying that, its all relative, his wages wouldn't have been as much as they would nowadays so..
But yeah, the money was always in its own account to pay for each bill as it came in,me and my sisters always got what we wanted when we needed it, and we had 2 holidays a year. It certainly worked for them! I'd say give it a go Pete, its a good idea :)

well, I kinda do it already as I have an account for all the bills and rent and another account for food and petrol, as they're monthly.

So really, what's left over is the once a year costs. I shall give a few banks a ring and see what they can offer me.

I'm hoping that with Santander buying Alliance & Leicester they may give their customers some of the profits!!

Know how you feel with the money! Second half of the year isn't going to be much fun - biggest cost when I get a place will be petrol for the commute each month.

Looking at selling some bits too. Don't suppose you know anyone after a feeder cd single collection??? ;)
