I have to say, I really don't look forward to games vs Purbrook ... they have a massive network of players and quite often don't pick a side according to the skills of the opposition. Yesterday was no exception.
From a personal point of view, I really didn't enjoy yesterday. Not only did I not have a player turn up (and they haven't returned my calls or messages today) but I was also rushed before the game. I had no time to warm up or get my head in gear for the game so I constantly felt that I was chasing the game rather than having any resemblence of control.
The pitch / outfield were also pretty poor (needed cutting, no boundary marked, no stumps marked) and then you ddd to that my bowling being crap and the batting not being great just left me feeling depressed with the whole malarkey!
The only plus point was that I won the toss ... something which I haven't done in a while! Still, my decision to bowl first didn't matter as they were gonna bat first if they'd won anyway.
I'm not sure I can be bothered to write a blow by blow account this week. Let's just say that they got 253-6 in their 40 overs, with their opener getting 80 odd and their number 3 70 odd not out (he was their normal opening bowler too!!).
We struggled to 116 all out, with only John getting a score of 52 and 1 other person getting into double figures :(
I got carted for 59 runs for 0 wickets from 7 overs and also only scored 7 runs. Bah ... cricket is a cruel game sometimes! Still, onwards ... it can only get better!
