Cheapest way to get a soft mat is probably to buy any old shitty dance game, depending on what you want to connect it to. eric_the_girl got DS Universe (yeah, I know) for £20 the other day, mat included.

Wii and Xbox DDR mats are the easiest to find these days.

You're best off buying a cheap game that comes with one, but failing that you should look in places like WHSmith as they sometimes have stock in there for YEARS.
