I'm no longer as intimidated by the place as I was a first. I'm having constructive conversations and training sessions with my fellow seaqsoned managers, and I'm picking up the trick and tips that make it all go smoother.
I'm still working on getting people really motivated, and learning to best place folks to maximize their performance. I think it's going to invole a lot more listening and a lot lighter touch than I'm used to.
I've narrowed the field of apartments significantly in the past week, narrowing from a field of over 20 to 2. Both places are central heat and air, sheetrock walls, new carpeting, good cabinets and plaster ceilings. One is pricer than the other at $575 a month, but it boasts certain luxuries the cheaper doesn't have, like a fireplace and real wood cabinets, as well as washer and dryer hookups. It also has a better move-in deal, costing about half that of the cheaper-rent place. However, it's 10 miles from work, where the cheaper place is 3 miles away.
I plan to be installed around the 10th of June. Which will give me 2 paychecks (at my new higher rate) to get my bills and move-in costs squared away.
Oh, and did I mention that I miss you guys? And that I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone at the wedding? Cause I do, and I am. ;)
Take care, Y'all!
