Renting out a house sounds like a good idea, until you have to do it in a crumby economy.  Summer at the beach is a go if I can find someone to rent my main house.  So far, the pickin's are slim.  I wouldn't rent a bird cage to some of the characters that have come by interested in renting.  A lot fewer people looking into renting this year as well

Good point. I do have other neighbors that are trying to rent outright for the year, but they are encountering the same problem. I could rent this house if I wasn't picky, but having a deposit and not allowing smoking or pets turns off a lot of people.
