So, I really hate thinking about the future. Like, this being the last year im all safe and taken care of and living at home. I mean, having happy friends who live in cars and other peoples couches with no money and are still optimistic makes it a little more managable, cause at least I know that no matter how bad it gets it's never that bad. Jobs (including well paying jobs) don't have to be awful, school doesn't have to be bad either. Just take classes you enjoy, no matter if you excell at them or not. There are lots of jobs out there you would be good at and could enjoy.
1. You write well, you aren't bad at taking pictures, you have a creative eye, and you have a good, dry sense of humor most of the time. This would be perfect for a number of jobs. You could write for a newspaper (think fun local ones not like the real one) or a magezine (music or other wise) You could even do free lance stuff so you aren't tied down to one place. Also, you could get paid to travel around, which you would love.
You are really good at many things, and you always get what you put your mind to. Just remember you aren't tied to a 30 year career, you can have a well paying, stable job without that.
Anyway, I'll talk to you more about it on the phone or in person.

Dang Syd! I had no idea our conversation last night would depress you so much. The 8 years of school just insures that when you decide the job you have sucks ( and you will) it is much easier to get another one that pays well and challenges you. Fer instance, I can't tell you how many people there are with law degrees that don't practice law. Just an example, I still think you should explore your journaistic tendencies. You know, expose corruption, make a difference, blah blah blah. Besides, you have lots of time before you have to make any commitments (if ever!).
Oh, and Sara....thank you so much for that comment. Clear heads prevail!

Love you most, Sydney!!!

The best thing is you don't have to decide anything right now. You just have to do the best you can to get through your senior year and keep your gpa up. If you are working too many hours coop-ing then work less. The only bill you have right now is insurance and that is almost paid up for 6 months. And..there are plenty of great jobs that you would love. Maybe not every day but most of the time. I'm lucky - I love my job! If I had gotten my degree I would have had even more choices in a career path. Keep your chin up sweetie. Through friends/family/school/work you will find/do what is best.
