Well, and I always have the intention...

....to post an update every week at the very least! And I haven't. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

Me bad kitty.

Quite a bit to update:

First off, on May 30th I did Bike the Drive on my lovely Terra Trike. As you can see, it was a gray, foggy day but I did it! Thirty five miles of pedaling action. It took around 6 hours, three tramadols, and a bed for the remainder of the day. I am very proud of myself for not chickening out.

Second, although it happened earlier in the month, I went to the National Latino Writers Conference in New Mexico. It was a wonderful experience to meet so many writers. And New Mexico is just beautiful.

Third, the beginning of June was quite busy. I was preparing for my summer job (a.k.a. my fridge money) and just simply a lot happening in theater land.
This week has been quite eventful...Sunday I went to Pentecost Mass and it brought tears to my eyes. It was a strange feeling. They had these awards for people in the parish who had contributed in significant ways to the community: amongst them a gay rights activist and a young woman who founded an intentional Christian community. Then there was "liturgical dance" which I had never actually seen. Even though it is not my thing I really enjoyed it and saw it had a place in the liturgy for the day. That alone was very moving. Then the choir sang "Oh Happy Day," one of my all-time favorite gospel songs. After Mass, they served lemonade and pastries outside.

Right after mass, I picked up Doña M. and went to SOMMARFEST. OH  YAH! It was crowded and too loud for her tastes. But that is ok because my back was killing me anyway so....at least we could say we went.

Then on Tuesday I went to the long awaited doctoral defense of my lovely friend Xenx! Ten years in the making! Hours of and hours of reading and writing and editing (well, of course she did that but I can say I contributed a li'l bit) and counseling and hoping she would not give up when she was so close to the end. I am so very proud of her. So very proud. And outside the window of the torture chamber conference room, I could see the gorgeous blue sky and blue lake.

Today was another beautiful day. I took the trike out and rode. I am noticing the dogs more and more and I am finding them cuter by the day. I want my LOLI with me! WAH! Poor bebe. Anyway, I thought this dog was cute.

I also played with Magnificent K, fairy goddaughter, today. We did lots of things: we played restaurant, school, cello concert, hide the flag, run with the flag, draw, stand up and sit down, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.....

I think this is a fairly good summary of my activities in the last couple of weeks.  Next week, I am off again traveling. But I hope to keep up with this better than I have done in the past.

travel, bike
