Ruth Fernandez
She was a very famous singer from my hometown of Ponce (where I am right now). She died yesterday, 92 years old. Sad. Seems like once she got sick nobody cared (publicly, that is) and now that she is dead, it is WOW, Auntie Ruth died!

Yearly pilgrimage to Schoenstatt. It was at a Schoenstatt sanctuary that I made my consecration December 26 of 19xx.
A few yards away was my former spiritual director but we did not recognize each other. By the time I realized it was P. Anibal, he had left. I have not seen him in over a decade.

Felled by a stray bullet
The year 2011 ended with a murder count above 1000 victims in my little island. Triple the homicide rate in Chicago. Horrific. Most caused by drug violence, domestic disputes, crimes of passion...but some caused by "celebrating" the New Year with gunshots in the air.
