Obligatory Hetalia Dub Post
So I watched the first seven episodes of dubbed!Hetalia...
I sat down to watch some of the episodes of Hetalia with my mom. She liked it, said it was cute, she just had some trouble catching all of what they were saying.
I noticed the same thing too, especially with Germany. He talks so fast you miss some parts of what he's saying. The first part of episode 1, the world meeting, is the same way with...everyone.
But it's nowhere near as godawful as I was fearing it would be. The accents are well done, even England and China's, whose annoyed me at first, grew on me. Not all of the original jokes are there, but the ones Funimation dubbed in fit perfectly with Hetalia. Overall, Funimation really kept the "spirit" of Hetalia.
The only downsides are the occasional fast-talking, and Funimation subtitled all of the on-screen explanations...even if the joke being explained wasn't in the dub. The one I first noticed was when Germany asked if they wanted the world meeting to be "another dancing congress"--the explanation was there, but he didn't mention it.
