I sometimes wonder if my mom is still parenting me or it's the other way around.

Unfortunately the offspring have no choice in the matter. And too often, I've seen parents inappropriately pull dependency stuff on their kids.

(there is appropriate dependency. My mom is in her late 70's, and after a long time of being very independent, she's confronting finally having to depend on us - though she isn't ready to move in with any of us yet.)

We've joked [only a little bit joking] about how when we're older and better off, we are not helping certain folks. Because they refused to help me when I needed it.
