Tom Daly is a nice young man who moved to Portland, immediately understood the bike culture and decided he wanted to become a part of it. So he got a job at Joe-Bike, where I had the pleasure of meeting him last year. This year, he's striking out on his own with a tiny, TINY repair shop he jokingly calls "WTF Bikes".

Thanks so much! It turns out that the Oregonian story generated quite a bit of publicity and Tom has received enough in donations to almost cover the loss of the two (turns out it was two) customers' bikes in just 24 hours. There may be a news story on tv tonight about it too. Thanks for helping out.

On the strength of your story, I trust that he did not fake the thefts (the thought crossed my mind in this wild and lawless part of the urban west), so I'm kicking in some cash from Tempe, Arizona. They used to shoot horsethieves around here, but I'd rather support the good guys and forge on.
