A few months ago, Sweetie gave me her old Nano, because she had gotten an iPod (the full-size, bigger memory version). She showed me how to use it, including sync-ing with my computer so music I'd put into my computer could easily be transferred to the Nano. And it's been fairly straightforward. Beth, that's a great memory of dad and as you can see, he was 100% correct. :)

As for the wired life, I am a big fan of the iPod Touch. It has the music but so much more. Basically, wherever you can get wifi, you can get e-mail, surf the web, etc (probably even update your blog on it). It runs virtually every iPhone app there is (there are something like 100K of them and many of those are free).

But the kicker is, no monthly plan. We are talking crazy money here (the average iPhone plan is like $70+ per month and you have to sign up for 2 years). Not for me. Anyway, I am such a huge fan of this little iPod Touch (although it ain't cheap). Jo and I share it and it has served us very well.

That said, I recommended it to another friend and he found no use for it after a few weeks of use, so I realize it's not for everyone.

I'm the same way with my 3G phone, except I do use it some when away from home traveling. But I have 1500 songs on it, and I think I've played some maybe 4 or 5 times in the last year. The gps (Navigator) function is somewhat useful, but the plan is so expensive I'll probably bail on it at the end of the term.

Very sweet story about your father.
