2.5 miles is such a trivial distance that you should just do it. I know that Fl heat is not like any other heat and that you might be sweating buckets, but keep a change of clothes with you or in the office.

Yep, it's like that in Austin, TX too.
You just gotta suck it up and deal with it.

Oh, and riding without a bag on your back helps. You should get a rack and/or panniers to cart around your school stuff.

yeah i didnt mean to sound whiny or anything! haha
i'm just trying to think of ways to convince my mom too,im still in high school and she's just worried i'll have a heat stroke or get hurt (i pass through a sketchy area and i can't say i can really defend myself without a weapon,which wouldent be allowed at school)
i'll just keep on begging :P

Ride in as little clothing as possible, then take a change of clothes with you to wear at school. After school, change back into your shorts/tanktop/whatever to ride home. And take cold water to drink.
