Joking I said "Well looks like I'll be living on lettuce" nope allergic to that too. Well mister allergy specialist you are out of your gourd if you ( Read more... )

Hm. Was this from a RAST blood test, or did they actually do the skin-jab tests on you? When I saw an allergist he ran the RAST panel - but told me that sometimes people turn up "sensitive" to foods on that panel that actually cause them no trouble whatsoever in real life. I was told to avoid all of them for a month, and then test them one at a time, one per week. Guess what? I didn't react to ANY of them. (There were some foods I didn't test - like mustard - because I don't like and don't eat them anyway.)

Now, I can't say you'll be as lucky - but if your allergist didn't suggest doing a restricted diet for a while then trying these things one at a time to see if you actually react to them, he kinda fell down on the job in my view.

I tend to agree. Given all the things on the list - it would be REALLY difficult to put a decent diet together. NO grains?! Like I said earlier - doing a "challenge" diet to see if the various foods really are a problem or not strikes me as only reasonable, to make SURE he needs to avoid/limit something.

My list was nowhere near as extensive, and let me tell you it's a MASSIVE pain to avoid wheat in our culture; add in corn and it becomes nearly impossible. At least I could eat rice cakes spread with butter and peanut butter!

Furr has a good point
It might be good to do some further testing to see if you really are allergic to everything, or maybe just dairy

Furr it was an actually skin test on my back and forearms, being allergic to so many different things I need to run some eating tests to see what really is going to give me a reaction, a trail and error type of test. I did make an appointment to see another specialist but his office said that it was a standard test that was performed so it would be doubtful there would be any changes. I knew I has having dairy problems so that is not a concern. It's the beef and chicken that threw me for a loop. I'll keep everyone posted and thanks for all the support.

Even with that - there's a difference between something being eaten and being injected under your skin. ;)

Best of luck - here's hoping a lot of those sensitivities don't turn out to be food allergies in practice.
