Class begins tomorrow and already burned out

Saima's spring break began as mine was ending. She's in North Carolina to visit her older sister at UNC and will be there all next week, while I'm in class and at work. This sucks very much. I don't like being alone at all. Saima I can talk to every night and relieve the stress of the day, otherwise I sit in front of this computer and feel ( Read more... )

For what it's worth, my ophthalmic technician girlfriend mentions that your optic nerve isn't going to detach right off -- it's your retina that's probably detaching (hence the laser welding.) Not that this is BETTER, but at least it's more gradual than damage straight to the nerve.

I am sorry about the poor dead car. Phoo. I don't know if you read about Mariah Carey being involved in a hit-and-run recently: the people she hit took a pic of her car with a cellphone camera. Not a bad idea to get in the habit of doing, if you've a digital camera handy. I carry a really crappy 1 megapixel camera around in my car and on my bike, and a notebook. The fastest way to defuse the beginnings of a bad situation when I have a bike-car interaction and the driver gets out and starts yelling at me is to take out the notebook and start writing down his licence plate number and a physical description. They inevitably shut up and get back in their car and drive off.

You are absolutely correct. That was my mix-up. The retina is what could detach. Hence the "consultation for poss. retinal detachment" on the retina specialist's appointment form. Duh.

I used to have a film camera in my car at all times, a Samsung point-and-shoot that took beautiful pictures...until Saima discovered it and stole it. But I didn't mind. I'll start keeping another in my car. That's a great idea, btw.

I am gradually feeling better these days. It seriously COULD be the weather, which is starting to be consistently beautiful, and makes me want to go running again. Shit happens, but we move on, don't we? :-P
