Forgot to mention, someone (was it you Cy?) mentioned that the dialogue was a bit slurred - esp Heath Ledger's character - well i was keenly aware of this as i watched the movie - and my take on it is that - for people living in southern USA, especially rural people, it would be quite in character to slur and not annuciate words terribly clearly. So as much as it WAS a bit hard to understand all dialogue, i thought it was in keeping with the characterisations. So to me it was necessary to the place in which the film was set. (but sometimes, i would have appreciated some subtitles to help me).
sorry, esp the last few days, everything i try to post on lj comes up as an error so i try again, never knowing if my posts come up once, twice or at all.
I would love to know how to make the posts into a link (so i could take up less space on people's friends page when they scroll. I flop at even posting an image at the mo, so ??????).
I agree, Bilby. I thought Heath's tight-lipped manner was all part of the characterisation. A very good movie, but the hype built it up more than was justified, in my opinion.
I thought the 50 year old Heath did have a body suit under there, as there was a bit of a tummy. But his shirts were so baggy, it wasn't obvious.
