Well a friend of mine saw this, this past weekend and i've asked him if i could repost his review in here. He's asked to remain anonymous, of which i totally respect.

Who better to review a Movie based on a historical event, than
Someone who was actually there... )

After reading the book, then seeing the movie I still found Jarhead a presentation made for the veterans. I sat with my wife during the movie and had to explain things over and over to her. It helped her relate to my experience, but lacked many aspects that were necessary for veterans and viewers alike...like the damn flies and heat.
I did just finish a really good book on Desert Storm and Task Force Ripper Marines. It was called "Braving the Fear" The True Story of Rowdy US Marines in the Gulf War.
I was able to relate that book more to my own experiences than Jarhead. It was really funny, exciting, and focused more on the troops and the great times that were able to have in the desert. I loved it.
