It is heartbreaking. But then, the novel is pretty accurate in its portrayal of what is actually happening in Burma every day. Right now. That's the truly depressing thing. I can't recommend this one enough though. It's fantastic. It doesn't arrive in stores until early March though. The American cover is different to the one above:
