When I first heard that the Prophet, Seer, Revelator, and President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints wanted to drop the "Mormon" moniker, I thought, "Well, that makes sense. Mormon was just a messenger, after all, not the deity itself. It's the same reason we don't refer to Muslims as Mohammedans anymore. Right?"

I was wrong. According to the Prophet, Seer, Revelator, and President Russell M. Nelson, the reason was this: "The Lord has impressed upon my mind the importance of the name He has revealed for His Church, even The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We have work before us to bring ourselves in harmony with His will. In recent weeks, various Church leaders and departments have initiated the necessary steps to do so. OK. Wonder what God will tell him to call it next?
