This is mainly for me. You can read it if you want. It somewhat lengthy, but it was written with a purpose from start to finish. ( THE HALF-ASSED COMICS MANIFESTOE )
i really feel wat ur saying, and i respect comics as a medium (even more so than when i met u). even in other mediums though, people just seem to have the wrong idea about it, or just use it like a toy. for instance, in film, people who make 2 fast 2 furious, and people who make things like the city of lost children. on one side of the spectrum are the trolls who cheapen the art to the level of a screensaver. then the other side, who goes completly over board and forgets its a medium of ideas and art, not just crazy "art" shit that does nothing and means nothing. the same thing in books (like the people who write airport thrillers and such)...
I know what you mean, man. It's so frustrating when you're passionate about something and no one else seems to really care. But it's awesome that you care enough to go after what you want, and do what you wanna do. I understand why you'd be a bit nervous about it, but I've always thought people should pursue their passions. It seems to me that it's worth the risk to do what you feel is important and worthwhile, and try to be happy. So good luck with everything and you always have my full support. :)
