I read that book nearly immediately after its release (I heard an author interview on NPR that sold me). It's the book that made me spend several day completely freaking out about plastics. I really enjoyed some of the pictures he created though, especially about the animals that would come back and how they would take advantage of their new environments.

But yeah, not a real "up" book.

Ooh...this one should go on my list of things to read.

Totally tangential note--We are waiting for the next installment of Battlestar Galactica from the libary, and are now watching Red Dwarf to fill the gap. Such totally different views of the post-apocalypse!
