Which is really a shame, because just like I recently mentioned in a conversation with

Hi there, bimo!

Nice to read from you!
I, too, plan to post more often again. We'll see how that resolution goes. ;-)

Currently, I'm watching "His Dark Materials".
Next on my list is the second season of ST Discovery. Or the third season of "Anne with an E". Or I'll continue "The Expanse" - I started season 1, then life got busier and I failed to view more episodes.

Aw, so nice to see you dropping by! :)

I haven't watched Anne with an E yet, but both Disco and The Expanse are very much worth continuing.

What's your personal impression of His Dark Materials? By now I've read so many mixed reviews that I'm not sure whether I should give the TV version a try. (I read the original Pullman novels some years ago, loved the first, but have very ambivalent feelings about the second and third one.)

"His Dark Materials" is a series I adore in parts, mostly for the many intriguing ideas that went into it. I did not connect to many of Pullman's ideas, however.

Still, I was curious about the series because of Dafne Keen and the script writer Jack Thorne.
While the series is not perfect and would have profited from a bigger budget (e.g. the movie from years ago did a better job IMO in regards to the visibility of the demons, to the visions provided by the alethiometer, and to me the movie-Jorek felt more real as well), there are scenes that work extremely well. All the scenes featuring because Lyra and Mrs Coulter (Ruth Wilson) are very intense and it's fascinating to observe their interactions.
I also like the look of the world that is more realistic and less flashy than the movie "The Golden Compass".
Have not yet watched the two final episodes of season 1, but am looking forward to them.

Aw! Lots of thanks for the info! :)

Good to hear that the scenes between Lyra and Mrs Coulter are working, because the relationship between those two characters is so very crucial.

Nice to "see" you again.

I'm underwhelmed by Doctor Who at the moment too but I haven't seen the most recent episode. We have masses of stuff piling up on our TiVo but we really want to get on to S2 of Star Trek: Discovery. We don't have a streaming service and seem to be miles behind everyone else watching anything which means that while we loved S1 of The Crown we haven't seen S2 yet let alone S3.

*sigh* "Being underwhelmed" seems like a very elegant way of putting it. And the sad thing for me really is that after over a year without any new episodes, I was so looking forward toward the upcoming series. I've always had a soft spot for the show and want it to be fun, thought-provoking and occasionally scary ;)

As for streaming services: I seriously wonder if we had ever subscribed to Netflix if two things hadn't happened simultaneously:

1.) About two years ago, from one day to the next, most of the private TV channels that Cavendish and I could receive with our digital DVBT antenna turned into pay-tv channels which you can only watch for a ridiculously high annual fee. (70 Euro per TV, not per household)

2.) Star Trek Discovery started and the only legal way to watch it in Germany is, well, via Netflix...

But now that we've subscribed, we both think that it's one of the best media-related decisions we've ever made.

Oh, and both Disco and The Crown are definitely worth catching up with! :)
