I Just Got A TEXT from Brother--THANK THE POWERS!!!

Just a moment ago the cell phone (which has been glued to me all day) buzzed with a text--Dale is out, awake and doing well---and here's the BEST PART--they decided to try to get in through the side of his head, going through the ear. That means he lost the inner ear and will not recover his hearing on that side--BUT they didn't have to drill big

Thanks, dearest one---He's no idiot, so I suspect he has some idea how lucky he is right now. As for his wife....after this I have no use for her whatsoever. And I'm very sorry my nephew didn't have the balls to text me...but there are things ya just can't change...so I'll count my blessing on my knees and give thanks...and go work on Chapter 17...

It's so weird though that you had to find out through a text, whereas most of the time family would be the first to know. Strange :/

It is wierd--but my sister in law has had it in for my mom---and me by default--since they got married. She feuded with Mom--and with Mom long dead she hasn't spoken to me since the year my dad died in 1997 and raised her son to feel the same way. I love the boy, but he doesn't know me--has only seen me about 3 times since then. I don't meet her standards, so she did this on purpose to avoid contact with me.

That is so amazing, I'm so happy for you both my darling!!!! And it's so good that they only had to go in through the ear- I can't believe they didn't suggest that to you sooner so you didn't have to worry so much!

And they can do tonnes of shit these days anyway to sort out a loss of hearing, so he may even be able to get that back.

Again, I'm so happy for you both, and I wish him the speediest of recoveries! :D

Well...they usually remove the malleus, incus, stapes bones and the ear drum--no way to hear with those removed--but he has a perfectly good remaining ear, so this is only good news. And thanks, dear, for the good wishes!!

I got a call last night around 8pm--my brother was totally whacked out on drugs but he wanted to let me know he was okay--and the BEST part---they WERE able to save the tiny bones in the inner ear (the malleus, incus and stapes) and repair the ear drum after it was cut open...he held a cell phone up to his bandaged head--and could faintly hear some sound!!!! Now, they couldn't take all of the tumor out--and it was not what they expected but a 'crystalized granunoma' type of growth-- 25% is still in there and it could grow back...but we will be optimistic. I told him I loved him and to take his drugs and go back to bed!

That's wonderful. Sometimes modern medicine is astounding.
