(Winter) Comiket 79

Jan 28, 2011 01:56

So Comiket is completely different from American cons, I can't speak for any other cons in Japan but I assume they'd be pretty close but with different focuses. Comiket is the Comic Market so it's all about doujin and novels. The con is three days (10a-4p), each with a different genre of doujin being sold. Day 1 is a lot of shojo stuff so doujin ( Read more... )

cons: comiket, tl;dr

That sounds like so much fun! So much stuff I'd want to see.
It's cool that they have games like Resident Evil and Devil May Cry. I totally understand why Ai-kon doesn't have games like that but it's a bummer for people who don't want to play DDR or Naruto all day.

Then again...do they have Halo in the Game room?

The cosplay thing makes me LOL
Paying to cosplay is sort of...eh. Especially since...some of the outfits people wear in general over there (what are those weird girls called who have the blonde hair, heavy makeup and tanned skin?). But whatever.
I guess the stereotype that only Asians are good cosplayers sort of loses it's credibility. Yeah, you're good, but you didn't always put in the effort so you lose points!

Oh they weren't game rooms, those are all series they were selling doujin or novels for! :D They actually have stuff for games like that too!

Paying to cosplay isn't very appealing at first but when I thought about it, it probably weeds out the people who do half-assed stuff thrown together. You mean Gyaru style? I only saw one or two of those sadly, I think that looks kinda sweet. XD But they consider that more a fashion statement than a costume. I actually didn't care about paying considering the con itself is free! There's no registration for Comiket so I just kinda considered it like making up for that.

O.O
I WANT RE AND DMC DOUJIN! (Maybe not novels 'cause I wouldn't be able to read them if they're like the Dounjin and in Japanese).

Ooh. Well if the con's free, than that's understandable.
They remind me of that episode of Seinfeld when George tried to get rid of a girlfriend by "cheating" on her with some lady from his office who tanned too much and looked like a carrot LMAO

510,000+ people!! Wow that is a lot! That is around half the population of Winnipeg. I would probably become claustrophobic because of all that people, hahahaha. ; w;

I died laughing at the cosplay bit, though I'm kind of disappointed to learn that not many made their costumes, I can understand why, but where is the fun in that? No brownie points in that category for them. o 3o

P.S. Your magnets says "Hi!" and are having an awesome time chilling on my desk drawer. I can't wait till you finish the toast magnets, they're so cute! <3

Haha I know right? There were so many tons of people there but I actaully never felt like there were TOO many people so that it was uncomfortable. Tokyo Big Sight is a huuuge area and both East and West halls were easily the size of a football field if not bigger. And there was plenty of room to walk and mill around in the afternoon. :3

Yeah I was rather disappointed too. And at the same time had to refrain from buying cosplay while over there. So conveniennnnttt. XD

Yaaay! Don't spoil them, make them lift some paper every once and awhile!! X3 Toast ones will be done by/before summer Ai-Kon. They'd be done for winter had I not been so lazy/busy. X3

I guess that would be reasonable, considering that a fraction of Tokyo's total population has to be able to fit
without it being considered as overpopulated and a dangerous fire hazard. xD

Don't let convenience win you over Leslie! Fight it! It is just shiny special effects!
Which one(s) were you eyeing on? ~(o 3o)~

They are not being spoiled (maybe). They are happily sticking next to my other magnets and odds and ends.
Here is a quick picture of them:

Note: I should have bought America as well, because of the McDonald's Magnet (I had that since grade two!) XP

I now ship ChromexKen! Thanks to that doujin.

Although to be honest, I ship Chromexanyone since I made that costume.

It sounds like you had an awesome time in costume! But if you weren't allowed to wander in costume, how did you get to the aisle?

Haha, it's really cute. Murkuro like, fires Ken and Chrome is all comforting him. I like Murkuro/Chrome, sadly I didn't have much time to check out stuff for them. :< Idk about anyone else though, like Tsuna/Chrome I think she's to cool for him.

Yeah! You are allowed to wear costumes in the con you just can't take pictures of it outside the photo area or leave/enter the con in it. :3

That sounds amazing. Holy MOLY, I've been to AX twice and I'm always amazed at the sheer number of attendees, I can't imagine the size of comikon. It's...it's...well it's like a Kantian sublime thought.

You're so lucky you got to go! Comiket is definitely on my bucket list.
