speaking of things i'm thankful for, my mother's molo soup is back to tasting like the molo soup i remember from when before my father and my youngest brother died. i am not certain if there is scientific proof behind the wide belief that a person's mood gets infused into the food she cooks, ala-"Like Water to Hot Chocolate." in any case, i choose ( Read more... )

I may not know what any of these dishes taste like, but your post is making me salivate ;-)

New Year's Eve was when my mum used to serve her spekkoek -- it's an Indonesian type of cake built up of seperately cooked layers and I'm not kidding, it takes days. Small wonder then, that she hasn't made one since my sister and I flew the nest...
