As y'all know, I'm making a dress in my Advanced Fashion Design class. (and no GUYS, it isn't see through. as much as you want it to be, it isn't. and I will NEVER make a see through dress.) It's a strapless prim and proper dress made out of cotton fabric with pink, orange and yellow tulips on it. I'll be adding a ribbon belt to it once I begin ( Read more... )

thank you! I'm all excited! :) I sewed the side seams today... which means I'll be done tomorrow! (I'm omitting the boning that goes in the sides. I don't see the need for it anyway.. it'll just get ruined if my mom washes it.)

lol! I'm stoked! It turned out beautifully so far and I just put fresh batteries in my digital camera this morning. I'll be using my lunch period to get a head start on finishing it, 'cause my teacher will be grading it and I want it back by the Friday before Valentine's day. :) I only have to do the bottom hem and the interfacing and then I have to press it and do seam finishes! and then I'm done! Yay!

I'm excited,lets see the dress :), the only time i ever made my own clothing was when i bought it and then modified with rips and tears, thats about the extent of my fashion designing :(

you'll see it soon enough! I'm almost done with it! I just have to do some seam finishes, the interfacing and the hem tomorrow and then I'm done with it. I'll put it on a dress maker's dummy and take pics. and I have to try it on and see if it fits and show my teacher. so I'll take pics then too. and it has a purpose! Valentine's day. :)
I started out ripping my clothes. that's a great place to start! you have to have a knowledge of scissors and what they do before you ever touch a sewing machine or serger. :)
