"It'll be fiiiiiiiine, John!"
"Why are we doing this, again?"
"Come on, it'll be fun! You don't even have to play, you can just watch me!"
"I'm pretty sure I watched something like this before and it was really scary. Are you sure you really want to do this?"
"Don't be such a wriggler, Egbert! Gosh."
Vriska had insisted on keeping the lights off for this adventure -- the light from the screen in front of them should have been more than enough, even with both of their glasses. All of the games from Alternia had gotten boring, but Vriska had located a rather popular one amongst the humans she was interested in trying out.
It hadn't taken long into the game for John to regret agreeing to help her along. Amnesia: The Dark Descent was definitely not a game for the faint of heart -- and John was having trouble watching. Vriska, however...
"This is soooooooo annoying!!!" Vriska spouted, brow furrowed. "When do I get my weapons? Am I just supposed to walk around all day???" The troll grumbled as a loading screen pulled up on the screen, taking a moment to glance sideways at her companion, who had gone most pale. "...hey. You ok?
"Huh, me? Haha, yeah! I'm toooooootally ok," John half-choked, fixing his glasses in order to meet Vriska's eyes. Of course, she merely focused on his choice of vowel extension and giggled.
"That's the spirit!" Vriska replied, leaning against him as the screen finished loading. The screen had gone much darker and filled with water. An ominous puddle splashed in the distance, between many boxes floating on the surface. "...huh. What's that thing?"
"I don't think you're supposed to touch it," John replied after forcing himself to swallow his fear. "You gotta hop on the boxes to get into that room over there." Vriska followed his gesture with a thought and proceeded to attempt to follow through with the instructions given.
The gap had been farther away than she imagined. Instantly, the splashing got louder, leaving the beast to pounce upon the helpless victim in the water with no way to fight back. It had snuck up from behind her, leaving Vriska completely unaware to the danger until her character was dead. It had been so sudden, the volume in the game escalating suddenly and leaving the bass to thrum in the dark air around them. Instantly, John jumped and sought to cling to Vriska, hyperventilating in fear. Even Vriska, who had been laughing a few moments ago, dropped the controller in surprise and jerked backwards into the couch cushions, hands flying up to cling to one of the arms around her. Her entire body quivered slightly with adrenaline and shock, though she hadn't been so frightened to forgo the fact that John was...well, clinging to her for dear life.
And for that, Vriska laughed and moved her other arm around him to ruffle his hair.
"...yeah ok, I guess we can play something else. Maybe that Hello Kitty Island Adventure game you always talk about! Hahahaha~!"
"H-hey come on, that's not fair!"
