Have you read Wilber at all?

the progression thing makes me think of his AQAL model... ("moral decisions change with time")

A Brief History of Everything is a good place to start, or if you're feeling ambitious, there's always Sex, Ecology, Spirituality.

I have not read Wilber, but I'm not surprised that you suggested him. It's funny -- when I asked for suggestions, I had only one idea of one thing I thought you'd mention, that I hadn't yet picked up -- and that was Wilber.

He's someone I wanted to read, anyway. Thanks for the reminder :^)

Other things to consider:

The making of moral decisions is highly reflexive. It cannot be avoided.

Moral intuition can be incorrect.

People can be incorrect about why something is moral, even if it is moral (do the right thing for the wrong reasons.)
