So fun to organize! I vacillate on house size too. But I really like that we have an affordable to heat/cool house and the location. It may get tight sometimes, but I think we just have to adjust. I'd rather bump into my kids instead of not seeing them because they're holed up in some random corner of a bigger house. Are you digging Pinterest for ideas?

I agree about heating and cooling! But, at 1150 square feet, our house is smaller than most apartments I've lived in. We were fooled by it having 3 floors. Ah well.
If we stay here(which our current underwater mortgage highly suggests) we'll probably end up finishing part of the short ceilinged basement, so we can have a play area at some point(I guess short ceiling shouldn't matter for that?)
I am digging pinterest, much more than I expected!

Baby J's parents have a basement about the same size as yours (with the same ceiling height) that they finished into a flex room (now playroom), guest bedroom, and more unfinished laundry room. As their kids needed less supervision they've used it more and more (and the au pair uses the guest bedroom down there).

Any thoughts about alternative uses for your study on the first floor? Could clearing that out/utilizing it differently help with any of this? Have you thought about Acorn and Baby's sleeping arrangements? I shared a room with my sister for most of my young years and loved it.

hi flitter- we've been working on the study and basement, with eventual playroom plans. The problem with the basement is that it is very short( Clove has to duck, is theirs that short?)
We plan to have newbaby and Acorn sleep in same room, post cosleeper phase.
