So we voted Tuesday. Utah had a big issue going about school vouchers. We are pro-voucher. We've been wanting to put our kids in a different school for a while, but we can't afford it. I think most people knew that it wouldn't win, but I still hoped.. It was a landslide loss, which made me sad. Specifically because now people are saying "It was a ( Read more... )

I'm so glad this is over! I debated with myself for a long time about this issue and in the end, decided to vote against it, but I got so fed up with the dirty tactics of the anti-voucher ads, that I wanted to vote FOR it just out of spite and to prove I wasn't associated with the idiots who ran the campaign.

Their ads were just chock-full of misrepresentation and buzz phrases. Their position in the Official Voters Pamphlet was embarrassingly full of phrases meant to incite fear in the ignorant. So you're right, in the end, I think it really boiled down to people voting against it out of ignorance and/or fear instead of really thinking about the issue itself. After all, it was full of flaws and fail[ed] Utah's families UGH!!

Oh man, that "full of flaws" thing was so annoying to hear over and over.. lol.
And I'm glad you voted, and I don't mind if people voted against it, as long as it was an educated decision that they felt was best, but yes the people that were voting that should have just left it alone, that frustrates me a little.
And hi! hehe

I'm glad the voting is over as well. I can see both sides, quite well. I agree with some points for the voucher, but the one thing I cannot support is the right to refuse services for disabled people or not accepting disabled people because they would require more resources and money to have them in the school. Sorry, I don't deserve a good education because I can't hear and require interpreters? I just can't bring myself to support something like that ( ... )

I applaud you for going and voting,
even though you pretty much knew it was a lost cause.

I was really disappointed that it failed; I'm pro-voucher as well. Good for you in voting though!!
