5 months

It's hard to believe, but Niko is 5 months old today!

He is so big and growing all the time. I can hardly believe it when I look at photos of him soon after he was born. He was so tiny!

He sits up in his high chair readily, and soon we will give him more than dragons to chew on - we'll try solid food (well, rice cereal) with him in a few days.

...but oh, doesn't he rock that dragon pacifier?

He loves playing in the exersaucer aka battleship of fun. And we really appreciate being able to put him down in it and have a minute or two to get coffee or whatever! He is also particularly fond of this toy:

In case it isn't obvious, he grabs on to things quite well now with either hand, and loves to suck on just about everything.

He has also gotten into sucking on his thumb or hands - or our fingers.

In this photo I was trying to capture how pleased he always looks when I stand him up on his changing table after a diaper change. He puffs out his little chest and smiles! But of course attempting to capture this using a phone, while holding him up, is not so successful. Next time I'll get Joe involved in either the baby-holding or the picture-taking.

OMG the tongue.

He slays me.

He will now high-five! ...if the embed doesn't work you can see the video on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/30942716@N04/10731007236/

Yes, we're rounding up, but it's still very exciting.

Not yet captured on video, and he's not doing it consistently, but he is also starting to sign when he wants food. It looks like him bumping his fist against his mouth, but he's definitely using it to communicate about eating! That is just so exciting.

We have had a lot of luck with an earlier bedtime. It takes a while to get him down, but then he sleeps through the night, almost every night.

I'm having a lot of fun with the kiddo.
