Does anyone know how one sets up a phone line when one moves into a new space? And how does one hook up DSL? Do you need local phone or just a phone jack? Desperate mover seeks knowledge.

You need both the physical jack and a phone nuymber/line to use DSL. I'm pretty sure that most companies already have a deal for JUST DSL, as well. As for setting it up? Hook the filters up to the other phone jacks in use, (besides the one going to the Modem), then hook the phone line into the DSL Modem, and the ethernet cable from the Modem to the computer, (Or Router, if you are hooking more than one line up to a single port, or using Wireless).

Phone lines, (physically), almost always exist in a building. To get it activated, ask the Land Lord, or call the Phone company.
